A place to rest
I like to hike and explore around the Coachella valley. The white water washes. Up parts of the
Pacific Coast Trail. The badlands along the San Andreas fault. The abandoned homes around
the Salton Sea. I find the urban decay there fascinating.
As I roamed in and out deserted trailers and houses, I found things others
have left behind. Sometimes it's something large like a sofa or a broken roll-a-way . Other times
it's a chair, or mattress that catches my eye.
I wonder about their stories. How long did the sofas or chairs sit in someone's
home? How many different homes? How many people were intimate on them? Were they passed down, or single owner? How many heads
slept on those mattresses. And how many times in these conditions. These back stories intrigue me.
